Eric Schmidt resigns apple board
Ο Eric Schmidt εκτός από CEO του Google κατείχε από το 2006 μια θέση στο διοικητικό συμβούλιο της Apple. Όλα ήταν καλά ή τουλάχιστον έτσι έδειχναν μέχρι την στιγμή που η Apple ανακοίνωσε ότι ο Schmidt παραιτείται από την θέση του. Έχουν γραφτεί πολλά για το αν θα έπρεπε να βρίσκεται σε αυτή την θέση παράλληλα με την κεφαλή του Google αλλά μέχρι τώρα η συνεργασία είχε μόνο θετικά αποτελέσματα. Η Apple ενσωμάτωσε το Google στο iPhone, το Google έκανε τα χατήρια της Αpple για multi touch στο Android και οι καταναλωτές απολάμβαναν το Jesus Phone με την καλύτερη μηχανή αναζήτησης του πλανήτη παρέα με άλλα καλούδια όπως το Google Maps.
Ο Google Chrome, το Chrome ΟS, το Android και η απόρριψη του Google Voice από το App Store φαίνεται να είναι καλοί λόγοι για την παραίτηση του Schmidt, κάτι που κατά διαστήματα πολλοί ζήτησαν αλλά έπρεπε να φτάσουμε στο σημείο να μπλέξει ο FCC και ο ανταγωνισμός. Google Chrome vs Safari, Chrome OS vs Mac OS X ή iPhone OS, Android vs iPhone OS. Με την αποχώρηση του Eric Schmidt αναρωτιέμαι αν οι φήμες περί multi touch περιορισμών ήταν αληθινές και το Android αποκτήσει πλέον multi touch χωρίς hacks.

CUPERTINO, California—August 3, 2009—Apple® today announced that Dr. Eric Schmidt, chief executive officer of Google, is resigning from Apple’s Board of Directors, a position he has held since August 2006.
“Eric has been an excellent Board member for Apple, investing his valuable time, talent, passion and wisdom to help make Apple successful,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Unfortunately, as Google enters more of Apple’s core businesses, with Android and now Chrome OS, Eric’s effectiveness as an Apple Board member will be significantly diminished, since he will have to recuse himself from even larger portions of our meetings due to potential conflicts of interest. Therefore, we have mutually decided that now is the right time for Eric to resign his position on Apple’s Board.”
