Plays more like a strategy game than a match 3

I remember someone made the analogy with another game that if Bejeweled was like checkers, this game was like chess. That is certainly true of Power Gems, and that is a good thing indeed. Don't be put off by the prospect of yet another entry in the tired match 3 genre, this game is on another level from the competitors in terms of polish and gameplay.

Why? Because the different game modes require totally unique sets of skills. While in classic mode you will need to plan your moves methodically to create the best matches available, you can get an adrenaline fix more akin to previous match 3 classics by playing the frantic mode. 100 mode means a short and hectic gameplay session perfect for those little spaces between things in your life, while the eternal mode allows you to simply enjoy the gorgeous graphics and all the amazing, gem-devastating powers released from runes earned in the game.

To be honest, I almost passed on this game due to it being "just another match 3." But I'm glad I didn't, because it would've been my loss to not get to enjoy this game, which is probably the best match 3 I have played.

Not a simple match-3!

The game has depth. In classic mode (my fav) there is some thought process (challenges you) to complete the levels. Don't be fooled by the earlier levels, it ramped up for me quickly. Very fun and lots going on when playing but not overwhelming. Rated it 5 stars because as the rating insert says, "its great". Nice game dev.

All the polish of Bejeweled 2 but far more strategic. Multiple game modes mean you can have pickup sessions too if not in the mood for deep thought. Awesome game.
